I AM SHANMUGAM
I grew up in Manarkudi, a small town in Tamil Nadu. As a boy, I was taught the family business of carpentry by my father, like so many local carpenters all across India. Today, I have developed our carpentry business, called “Fashion Woodworks”, into an internationally known, mechanized industry with over one crore in annual turnover and a list of famous clients, both in India and overseas. we have a showroom in Chennai where visitors can marvel at his designs, which range from traditional carved teak doors and puja rooms to modern furniture and a variety of bespoke work based on unique customers’ designs.
ABOUT MY SHOWROOM
Mr. Shanmugam’s showroom and factory in Chennai to find out. A quiet and humble man who quickly gets fired up with enthusiasm when talking about his work, Shanmugam is known among his peers for always taking a ‘hands-on’ approach, for putting a great deal of thought into designing and planning before the work starts. A few of his more well-known works are based on ideas that came to him in dreams. This provided the first clue to his nature, as he seems to have a more artistic nature than most of us – but there is more to the story.
Fashion Woodworks is not just another furniture-maker. Each piece that rolls out of the house of Fashion is a thing a beauty! To be loved and cherished for years to come. Quality is a high priority at Fashion Woodworks and most of the work is crafted from fine, study Burma teak and the rest from rosewood or sandalwood. The color palette is wide-ranging from white cedar, beechwood, silverware, cherry, rosewood, walnut to teak. The finishes could be matte, glossy or dull. The work can be custom-tailored to suit individual budgets.

Fashion Woodworks believes that R & D is vital to the growth of the company. Their R & D Lab is the first of its kind in the furniture industry. The lab experiments with the uses of various types of wood, finishes, and forms. Their labor has borne fruit and many innovations have been introduced and have been well-received in the market.
WORKING EXPERIENCE
we focus, which is completely on the work itself. we are hardly concerned with making money or other concerns that take up most of our lives and remains dedicated to the work itself, always seeking perfection and never settling for less. “My forefathers for many generations were carpenters. From a young age, I was always very interested in working with wood and I have done many experiments. I also take on highly customized work which sometimes requires expensive special equipment”, making it. Like so many small carpenters in India today, we are adapted our traditional methods to incorporate modern technology. The first step was naturally the use of the hand router, which is a great time saver and one of the most popular woodworking tools.
